As a result of war, disease and poverty there are millions of orphans, alone and suffering all over the world. These children and youths live in terrible conditions. Without help, some do not live to adulthood. Those who do, continue to live in misery, rarely able to overcome their circumstances. See the links below for some organizations that help these orphans.
"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress..." James 1:27
Perhaps even more sad are the millions of orphans of affluence. They live in a country where all their material needs are provided for and often so much more. Yet they are alone and suffering. Perhaps you are one of them? There are children and youths who feel that there is no one who truly knows them or cares for them. They despair of this world and despise their own lives. Some of these 'orphans' die as well, through suicide. Those who live to adulthood become cold, to numb the pain of the vast emptiness inside.
There is hope and help for you if you are alone and suffering. Jesus Christ died and rose from the dead so that our unholiness would no longer stand between us and a holy God. You will no longer be alone once you accept Jesus. Then you will know that God is the father of us all. He will give you true joy and peace, a joy and peace that this world cannot understand or take away. And you will know His love and that you are His cherished child.
Why cling to fantasies as a life raft, when, as a leaden weight, they will drag you down to despair and to the pit.
Here is a poem I wrote that captures the feelings that many have during these present days. I myself have felt an orphan, but there is hope!
Drowning In Life's Ocean
Black, bottomless waters.
No one to hear.
My mouth filled with water.
My heart with cold fear.
They tell me to bail.
All I have is a spoon.
You can't bail the ocean.
I will drown soon.
Throw me a line.
Hold on to me tight.
Don't let me sink.
In this endless night.
Light a fire or beacon
To show me the way.
And please pray for me.
As I pray for day.
If these are your feelings, here are some other poems I have written on the topic.
I Have To Jump
The choices in life
They never come cheap.
For what you sow
You then have to reap.
Worthless struggles for gain
Life's but a bleep.
There's no one to comfort
You when you weep.
Trouble on trouble
Loom in a heap.
In death there seems hope.
As deep calls to deep.
I pray that this ending
Brings pleasant sleep.
I hear words from the past,
"My soul to keep."
Perhaps He could change things?
Make a clean sweep?
It's a jump either way
Dare I try faith and a leap?
Don't take your life in your hands
The price is too steep.
Be not a lemming
But rather a sheep.
Wonder Why
One by one the days pass by.
On and on I let them fly.
Never stop to wonder why.
What was the purpose of my birth?
Caring for myself and I
Getting money to buy and buy
Striving for another high
Trying to fill my life with mirth.
The end comes, it's time to die.
In the coffin cold I lie.
I wonder why I didn't try
To find Truth on this earth?
Don't Be Eaten Alive
Worry eats you alive
One joy at a time
Your vision goes black
Life's not worth a dime.
You get all chocked up
Your heart frozen with fear
Can't seem to change it
Can't drown it in beer.
There is a solution
To this miserable state
Someone to help you
He is the one gate.
He wants to release you
Take this burden away
You just have to ask Him
Accept freedom today.
Pray now to Jesus
He'll give you rest.
You'll find life with Him
Is joy-full and blessed.
You'll still have troubles
But He'll help you through.
It takes only a prayer
To have all things made new
Pray to God, tell Him that you believe and want Him as your father. Receive His love.
